The Ghosts Are Talking To Each Other September 9, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 10:40 pm

I think I need to get out more!  I’m playing around with the brand spanking new, uber cute Halloween line – Boo-tiful by Nikki Sivils and I started thinking about the white ghosts ganging up on the one lonely black ghost but really the black ghost being so much cooler had to have the last word.  Thus a layout was born or I guess a conversation was born.

You’ll notice a bit of dimension here too.  I bent the bat wings to make it look like it’s flying.  Now that I think about it bats don’t necessarily flap their wings or whatever they are.  But you get the gist…..I hope.

Moo! September 7, 2009

LOL!  This whole post is going to be silly because the layout is silly and why not make a silly title right along with it?

The only thing not silly about this post is how much I adore Kenner Road !  I signed up to receive their kits and have loved every little stinking thing about them!

OK, back to the silliness.  Here is a layout I did with the August main kit and throwing in some embellishment kit goods too

KR New Friends

KR New Friends CU L

KR New Friends CU R

Yeah, thats Wesley making friends with a cow :-)   The journaling is random and silly but how serious can you get about bovine?

Journaling:

as we were out hiking around one day

we came across a heard of cows

wesley just had to meet them

and there was a cow who wanted to meet wesley

they became instant friends

we named the cow bob

i’m not sure why

we haven’t been back since

i wonder if wesley misses his friend

I love lowercase lettering and with my journaling I have a tendancy to not give proper punctuation where it’s due.

The dictionary page I added from my own personal stash and if you look closely you’ll notice I ripped out the page with the definition for cow.  I’m sort of literal that way sometimes.

New Printer = New Projects! September 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 8:08 pm

Right about a day or so before my printer died I got my very first kit from Kenner Road.  It was pure torture staring at it!  It was a good 5 or 6 days before I could finaly dive in to it and create!  I’m obsessed.  Seriously.  My dork geekdom is in overdrive over these kits! Love them!

Here’s the first project I made

KR Sophies Legacy

KR Sophies Legacy CU

That’s my dog Wesley! To Die For don’t cha think!  Anyway because he’s a dog obviously, and a big one at that, he’s a little ruff around the edges. (did you catch the word pun…)  The ripped up cardboard box is meant to show his ruff (rough) edges.  I also sprayed it with Glimmer Mist.  Love Glimmer Mist!  See the splaters?  That’s Glimmer Mist too.  I made a small puddle of Glimmer Mist on a foam plate and took a foam brush and dabbed it in the puddle and then just sort of flicked it or flung it on the paper for splatter marks.  I guess you could think it’s Wesley’s slobber being represented here but alas he doesn’t slobber (nice!)

Oh and the circle thingys?  That my friends is an exclusive Kenner Road stamp and Glimmer Mist.  I simply used the same Mist puddle and placed my stamp in it and then stamped on the paper.

This next project is a just for fun one.  Remember the photos I showed you in the previous post?  Here’s the final project:

OA Day One

OA Day One CU

I love October Afternoon don’t you!  I created the flower kind of by chance.  I was in process of throwing away some butcher paper and a brown paper bag and I thought “wait a sec!”  I used my scallop punch and punched out 4 circles, two from butcher paper and two from the brown paper bag.  I then used a stamp from Prima Marketing and then spritzed all the layers with Glimmer Mist.  I attached a Heidi Swapp brad and then sort of scrunched the layers for extra oohmph.  I love extra oohmph :-)

The alphabet accent behind the photo is the negative images from a chipboard letter alphabet.  Again I placed the image on a piece of cardstock and sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

So there you have it.  More projects to come….more assignments and deadlines to create for.  Thanks for stopping by, now get scrapping!

Hello Beautiful! September 2, 2009

This little beauty came in the mail yesterday :-)   You have got to love Canon’s customer service.  As a loyal Canon customer they gave me a discount and free overnight shipping.

I set it up last night and did a test run.  My photos have gone from printing like this with my dead printer:

2009-9-02 019

To printing like this:

2009-9-02 020

Excuse the fuzziness of the photo – I’ve got some major catching up to do and a boatload of stuff to do around the house.  You get the gist right?  I’m back in business! Woot!

Thanks for stopping by now get scrapping (yes, I will too)!

R.I.P. August 28, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 4:34 pm

It’s a sad day in my scrap room today.  We are mourning the loss of our beloved printer.  We’ve only had the Canon I-960 in our lives for a short time, as relative as printers should be, but oh how we’ve enjoyed her.  Yes it’s a her.  She has given us great joy and photos but alas she has printed her last.  The past couple of days she’s been printing out pictures that have a lovely nuclear green hue to them.  She tried so hard but just couldn’t give her all.  We tried cleaning her last night but now she’s not printing anything at all!  Blank pages my friends!  Sigh….

Maybe, just maybe there might be something we can do to revive her still.  We’ll see otherwise we’re going printer shopping tonight heh!

So what’s a girl to do when she can’t print out any photos or grocery lists (oh darn on that one).  Make cards of course.  Something I’m not that strong at but still like to do.  And I stamped too.  Another thing I’m not that great at even though I L-O-V-E stamps and pretty inks.  You should see my collection!  I’m much more of an added accent kind of stamper rather than a focal point kind of stamper if you kwim.

But never say never right?  Stampendous generously provided the design team for Helmar these amazing stamps to play with.

HUSA Hello card

On this one I stamped on twill and shabbied it up with Glimmer Mist (love Glimmer Mist…just saying!) and I stamped a simple sentiment.

HUSABloomcard

This one I stamped the sentiment and free hand cut around it.  I added some Kaisercraft pearls for added fun (love Kaisercraft pearls…just saying).

On both cards I used the amazing Liquid Scrap Dots to pop up the elements.  Love Liquid Scrap Dots….just saying :-)

For The Love Of Vintage August 22, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 2:06 am

I love all things vintage!  I’ve been collecting antiques and junk for years now.  Fortunately for me the vintage look is HOT right now in scrapbooking!  Swoon the marrying of my two favorite passions!  Old stuff and scrapbooking!  Seriously can it get any better?!?!

In my stash of amazing adhesives I have this a-maz-ing product called Antique Acrylic Sealer from Helmar.  Isn’t the name alone dreamy!!!!  I also recently scored a vintage dictionary from Goodwill for super cheap.

Check out my project

The papers are the Secret Garden collection from Dream Street and I found this nifty flower tutorial over at the amazing blog for Kenner Road kits which you have to check them out!  If you love vintage you will love their amazing kits!  I’ve recently signed up to receive their kits and I’m a full fledged fan!  Just call me FFF…..or not…

Document those relationships!!! August 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 5:48 pm

I never had the opportunity to know some of my older relatives when I was a kid.  I never met my great grandmothers, one of my grandfathers passed away when I was a toddler and the other one passed away when I was 7 or so.  I remember nothing about any of them and it saddens me. Which is why I feel its super important to document as much as possible before it’s either too late or you forget all together.

I love this layout of my girls with their great grandma Dorothy.  She’s passed on to glory now but I’m so glad that they had so many wonderful years with her.  And since I don’t want them to forget her, I scrap about her and their relationships.

I used the Dream Street Secret Garden collection and threw in some book print paper by October Afternoon for fun!
