Beneath The Noise

a place to find some of my latest projects

Just for fun March 14, 2009

This is my recent post over at the Helmar USA Design Team Blog.  The papers are older releases from Sassafras Lass that I absolutely love and have been holding onto way too long!  I enjoyed doing this layout because I did it  just for fun – not because of any commitments or assignments but only because I wanted to.

Although I say that it wasn’t for any commitments I was able to use Helmar Adhesives so I guess in a way I did fulfill some monthly requirement….. which is very cool.

Anyway thanks for looking and here is the post as seen on the Helmar blog:

I love that I have kids who are so imaginative and fun to be around….well for the most part anyway!  But when they’re imagination goes into high gear I quickly grab my camera to document these fun moments.  Usually the journaling is verbatim of the conversation I have my kids.  Like in this layout!  The journaling is as follows:

Me:  “What are you looking for?”
Caitlyn:  “Bigfoot!”
Me:  “In the spare bedroom?”
C:  “Yup!”
Me:  “What are you wearing on your head?”
C:  “My explorer hat”
Me:  “Your canvas tote bag?”
C:  “Yup!”
Me:  “Why are you carrying your purse?”
C:  “Because it’s pretty!”
Me:  “Oh.”

So funny don’t you think?

While your documenting these fun moments don’t forget to grab your Helmar Premium Craft Glue!  Sometimes those chipboard pieces can be tricky to adhere! Especially if you like layering chipboard pieces like I did in this layout. Just add a drop or two of this amazing adhesive to your chipboard pieces and they will for sure stick together!

Happy Saturday and get scrapping!

Every now and then I get little glimpses into my daughter’s heart March 6, 2009

Last May my father in law, Bob Achilles, died unexpectedly.  We still feel the loss of him even today.

Just this morning my daughter Allison asked to see the video of her grandpop from Youtube.  Back in the day my father in law was quite an accomplished musician.  Playing several different instruments, writing and arranging.  The Lord had gifted him with tremendous talent.

When he was in his 40’s he gave up the life of a full time musician when the Lord called him into full time ministry.  He never regretted giving up being a full time musician.  He truly lived out Phillipians 3:7-9 “Whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  More than that, I count all things as loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith….”

So this morning, because I think the loss of her grandpop was weighing heavily upon my daughter’s heart we watched the video together.  You can see him playing the sax on the bottom right and then he has the clarinet solo.

I cherish the times that my daughter lets me into her heart to see what she’s feeling.

Thanks for looking!
