Projects To Share January 31, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 10:41 pm

This is such a tough time for me right now.  I’ve been creating like crazy!  Really!……no REALLY!  But I’m holding a few back.  Memory Makers Books is holding a call for layouts for an upcoming idea book called “The Big Book Of Scrapbook Ideas”  I’ve been privileged to be pubbed in their compilation books in the past and would love to have the privilege again.  Problem is that they stipulate that the layouts are never before seen.  So I’m sort of stuck between do I share or do I wait.  I guess I chose both.  I share some, I don’t share others.  Works for me, for now.

Here is a project I did using gobs of Helmar Adhesive goodness.  I hate that you can’t really see the crackle medium I used on the chipboard, but really it’s there.  I channeled my inner KL to make the vintage book flower and used a ton o fav manufacturers.

Here’s my niece and her husband.  These photos were taken at the rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding….thus the title.  I would be remiss if I didn’t share with you that this layout was created using the December kit from Kenner Road and a ton of misting.  loves

Poor, poor neglected blog! January 25, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 6:34 pm

Acckkk!  How long has it been?  Oh my goodness.  My goal has been to update this blog pretty regularly for, you know, all 3 of my readers.  I have let you down.

But I can redeem myself right?  Share some newly done cute projects in hopes of inspiring you all to great crafty heights right?  One can hope and dream!

I was privileged to be part of the CHA 2010 team for Nikki Sivils!  Basically that means that I got to play with a couple of the newly released lines and my projects are showcased in the booth in Anaheim!  Cool beans for me!

These first projects were done using the Willow Bee collection.  So cute!

The flower centers are super duper cute burlap buttons! They come in different sizes and have different thread colors and button colors!!!

A couple of cards using the stamp sets that coordinate with the collection.

The next collection I got to play with is the Flaming Butterfly collection. Such fun and dynamic colors that really pop against any color cardstock!  I found myself gravitating toward a neutral white background to really make the colors pop.

Tis The Season To Ignore My Blog Fa-La-La ACK! December 22, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 4:28 pm

Poor miserable neglected blog!  During December some things just have to go to the bottom of the pile.  Updating my blog is one of them!  But I am happy to say that I’m 98% finished wrapping presents :-) , 99.5% done shopping for food….darn Orange Juice and heavy cream and whatever else pops up that I end up needing to get at the grocery store!

Scrappy wise my world is hopping!  There’s this “little” show called CHA coming up in January.  Have you heard of it?  HA!  And then there’s this amazing kit from Kenner Road that I’m dying to dig into.  It’s calling me…nay haunting me….cooooommmmmeee plaaaaayyyyy wiiiitttthhhh meeee! But alas priorities take precedence at least for now.

I have some awesome news Nikki Sivils is having a DT call to replace a couple of members we lost recently!  Oh baby does she have  C-U-T-E products and some even more cute ones debuting next month.  You won’t want to miss out on trying for this call.  Nikki is super generous!  Here are the details for the call Nikki Sivils DT call .

I’ll leave you with a couple of my recent Nikki projects so you can see how cute and versatile her products are.

Sorry for the sucky pictures.  Maybe Santa will bring me a photography class for Christmas.  In this banner I incorporated the 6×6 mini “paddies” from the North Pole Nights collection.  And I used my new favorite V2 Vellum Adhesive on the cardstock and shaked gobs of glitter on it.  The Vellum Adhesive is an aerosol so I got even coverage on the cardstock for the glitter!  Love that!

I know I showed this one before but I wanted to again.  This layout was created using the North Pole Nights collection.  Yes, you can use a holiday themed collection for non themed projects!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.  Thanks for stopping by.  Now get scrapping!

Random Projects November 23, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 3:17 am

I’ve done quite a bit of creating lately which has been pretty cool.  I find my mojo comes in “spurts” and when I can I create a lot!  Here are some projects I can share and they’re all from random and differernt things.

First of all have you ever heard of Work In Progress kits?  Super cute kits that I absolutely love!  I purchased the November main kit and the project kit.  I have so much that I have in mind to do with these kits but this is my first layout using Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg collection

I also splatered some mist and used some Shimmerz Paint for the brown splatters.

Next I made a layout using the October kit from Kenner Road I L-O-V-E Kenner Road!  KL puts together such awesome kits!

I popped out the letters from the Sassafrass alphas and used the skeleton along with the backing of the packaging to make my background. Yay me I went a twinge green! heh

I had fun making this project.  I wanted to create some Christmas tags but wanted to use some non-traditional Christmas images.  Here’s what I came up with using 7 Gypsies tags

What do you think about the tags?  Do you think they look ok?  I like them but then again I get too close to my work sometimes and think they’re not that great.  Fresh perspective would be great!

Thanks for stopping by!  I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Now get scrapping!!!

Using themed paper collections in a non themed way October 30, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 3:15 am

Hey there!

Today I want to show you 3 layouts I’ve made using themed paper collections but in a non themed way.

The first one I created using Urban Ink collection by Dream Street.  Total boy papers!  Metal, steel, rough around the edges.  I used it to make a girl layout.

DS Suburban Ink

DS Suburban Ink CU L

DS Suburban Ink CU R

For the next two layouts I used holiday themed collections in non holiday ways.

Here I used the Superstition collection from Dream Street Papers.  Total vintage Halloween collection.  I love vintage but personally not a huge fan of Halloween.  So I created this:

DS Do What You Love

DS Do What You Love CU

Here is a layout I did using the North Pole Nights collection by Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker.  Total cute Christmas line including wind up mice, candy canes, elves and Christmas trees.  Here’s what I made:

NS Her Own Style

I hope you find that you don’t have to use a paper collection only for what it was originally intended for.  Use your patterned paper to work for you!

See this?  You have a chance to win this!  This is the Adhesive Runner by Helmar and a double pack of refills.

Adhesive_Runner2_FINAL

I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this adhesive works!!!  If you’ve ever been disappointed in how ineffective some adhesives are I totally know where your coming from!  I’ve been there too!  But since I’ve been using Helmar’s products I’ve not been disappointed at all!  Nothing ever falls off my projects, there is no discoloration, bleeding, warping or tearing.  The Adhesive Runner is super sticky and is hands down the best adhesive I’ve ever used.

So, interested in winning this adhesive?  It’s  super easy!!!  Leave me a comment on this post and I’ll enter your name into win.  I’ll take comments until November 1st.

Thanks for stopping by! Good luck to all of you.  Now get scrapping!

A Story Of A Sketch October 14, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — laurascrap @ 5:22 pm

One day while perusing the gallery over at Two Peas In A Bucket I came across this amazing layout.  This layout to be exact.  How can you not love it?  Wonderful colors, cute details and a fun picture too!  I left praise.  I don’t always leave praise.  Not that I don’t find many, many, many praise worthy projects.  It’s just that there’s only so much time in the day…kwim?

I also happened to notice that with the layout was a sketch and a challenge to create a layout with that sketch.

sketch

Since I loved the layout so much I knew I wanted to create my own layout using the sketch.

I read that the sketch was for a challenge for a new kit club called Magpie Club Cute name huh!  I checked out the kit club website and let me tell you these kits are C-U-T-E!!!   What  a fun mix of new scrapping goods with just the right touch of vintage goodness and found items!  So cute and so right up my alley!

Being the ever so slightly nosey gal that I am had to check out who this club was owned by and was pleasantly suprised to find out that she’s a local girl!  Yay Colorado!

So if the sketch wasn’t cute enough, and the name of the kit club wasn’t even more cute enough, she’s a local girl and that just sealed the deal for me!

So here is my take on the sketch for the October challenge over at Magpie Club.
